Alcopops

This bloke, even after consuming a dozen pre-mixed drinks, would make a much better senator than Steven Fielding. Discuss.

I think he'd do better than Fielding. At least he has character.

Fielding was foolish and threw the baby out with the bath water, including the $50 million program to combat binge drinking that the Greens had negotiated.
However the blame for this bill being defeated should be first and foremost levelled at the Liberal Party which opposed it for no good reason, against the wishes of health experts and senior police.

At least Fielding had reasons, however misguided, for his opposition to the bill. I reckon was right to push for a ban on alcohol advertising and sponsorship during daytime, televised sporting events. And he's right that the government should treat alcohol advertising in sport the same way as tobacco.

However the stupid fuck should have voted for the legislation with some workable conditions and then used his position in the Senate to introduce bills regarding alcohol sponsorship.

Now he's fucked the lot up.

Another thing I don't understand is why are the distillers getting the tax money back if it was passed down to the consumer?

But they did vote for the wishes of the distillers. Wonder if it had anything to do with all that sweet sweet cash the booze companies donate to the Libs every year?

What a mob of fools you lefties are, this tax hike was all about the revenue and the talk about girls binge drinking was just a piece of social engineering window dressing nonsense. If the government was serious about that then they could have easily banned vodka based pre mixed drinks. Police could be keener about busting under-age drinkers and anti social behaviour.
But No all you can do is whine in sympathy with a government who were trying to rip the people off with a new tax.

Hey iain
what exactly would you say if the Greens handed $300 mil back to the distillers, stopped a $50 million anti-binge Drinking program, and increased the budget deficit?

I would say that the government should have taken the opposition's offer to pas legislation making the the refund of the tax already collected unnecessary. What we have is the government being willing to forgo the tax money so that they can play the victim card at the taxpayers expense.

That of course wasn't the question Iain. Better get a good physio Mr Hall, Your back must be buggered from all that goalpost shifting.

Iain You asked :
"what exactly would you say" and I gave you a straight up answer of exactly what I would say so don't blame me if your wording does not pose precisely the question that you think it does.

Get real Iain.
I asked "what exactly would you say if the Greens handed $300 mil back to the distillers, stopped a $50 million anti-binge Drinking program, and increased the budget deficit?"
Even a ten year old could understand that question.
You obviously need some reading lessons to help you finish sentences.
