Just a quick update on the Ron Humphrey situation.
The local papers last week reported Ron's claim that he had rung the shire CEO on Friday about his "alleged" illness. Ron's sudden "stomach virus" three days later ensured the council meeting could not take place due to a lack of a quorum.
I had a quiet chat with a source (called Deep Throat) in an underground carpark the other day, and he claims Ron never made that call to Shire CEO Peter Bollen.
In other words my source claims Ron just bullshitted to a young journo called Aleks.
Now I don't want to tell ALeks at the Echo how to do his job, but I definitely think he should call Peter Bollen to clarify the situation.
After all, we really should know whether Ron Humphrey is a nut, or, a nut and a liar.
If Ron did lie, I would like to give him some advice regarding the art of telling political fibs. Learn from Johnie Howard and make sure that those you involve in the deception back up your story. Otherwise it gets very embarrassing very quickly.
And now a competition. We need a name for this scandal. "Ron-gate" and the "Ballarat Blow-in Affair" are taken. But give us your best shot in the comments section below.
UPDATE.
Who saw Media Watch last night?
I wonder where they got their info from?
BLL will be taking a week break from blogging due to work and family commitments.

Here's Humphrey?
Just heard a little whisper that Ron has read the site and he is fuming.
And what did Ron do? He over-reacted and demanded computers be confiscated at the shire. Great, a witch hunt, and one that ensures shire business comes to a halt so Ron can play politics. Pretty standard stuff for Ron, and he has already phoned "his" journo at the local paper expressing his outrage.
It is about time the journos actually did some research on ron rather than merely regurgitating his quotes.

One only has to look at the record of the COGG council, John Mitchell and David Saunderson are both guilty of this sort of issue. Both at separate times not attending meetings where they may incriminate themselves by being seen to change their vote from the previous casting.
Vested interest is rife in every electorate, we are going through the era of Imanutcase (or could that read Imanutgate?)
